Alcoholics Anonymous · Area 79 BC/Yukon · District 42
You are welcome here.
Anyone with a desire to stop drinking is welcome at a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are people of many different races, sexual orientations, religions, genders, professions and income levels. Our focus is on our common ground of alcoholism.
If you think you have a problem with drinking, we can help. Come to a meeting, or call the help line any hour of the day or night and talk to another alcoholic.

A few honest answers
What is Alcoholics Anonymous?
A fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees.
Am I an alcoholic?
Only you can decide. The basis of our program is one alcoholic helping another, and we've found a common solution. If drinking is causing you trouble, a short, private self-assessment is a good place to start.

Members get and stay sober by working the Twelve Steps described in the book Alcoholics Anonymous, often called the Big Book. The Steps are spiritual principles practised as a way of life. A.A. is not a religious program and is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics or institution.
Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. From the A.A. Preamble
